  • Rio 2016 Olympic Park

    September 21, 2012 1 min read

Can't wait for your next Olympic fix? The next games may be four years off but you can already get a look at how the park is going to be developed in Rio for their games. 300 acres in the Barra da Tijuca neighbourhood of Rio will become the venue for the games, the stunning waterfront location already has a few of the facilities in place as it was used for the Pan American Games.

At Hugs & Co. we love to hear about British design and designers at the front of the international scene, we are therefore delighted that Holborn based Architects Aecom have been appointed to design the venue in Brazil. Architect Bill Hanway (pictured below) who headed up the bid for the firm said 'This is the first Olympics in South America and Rio is the most beautiful city in the world and we have tried to reflect the beauty and spirit of the place in our master plan.'

Aecom already have experience with Olympic venue design as they were responsible for London's Olympic park in Stratford. We look forward to watching the designs develop over the next four years.
