The British Driving Loafer is our answer to the question of environmental sustainability in fashion. Developed primarily to use less energy in production and re purpose waste tyre material; these shoes also have a long lifespan so they don't become part of the harmful disposable fashion movements.

Waste car tyre material builds up constantly, we take this waste and upcycle it into the soles for shoes. This uses a fraction of the energy required to mould a new sole from fresh material. This long lasting material means you will be able to keep wearing your shoes for much longer.

Leather is a naturally occurring sustainably renewing resource and a byproduct of farming. It is also a naturally breathable, comfortable and luxurious material that is used to create the finest footwear in the world.

Leather production is highly regulated with strict standards and accreditations for processes and water consumption. Hugs & Co. only use leather that has received the highest level of awards for sustainability in production

Our footwear has some of the lowest environmental footprints of any producer in the world.

All our packaging is made with recycled card and paper. We minimise the use of plastics wherever possible in our packaging.

We are also always on the lookout for new ways to develop sustainable packaging for pour products.

Though machines are used for some of our production we rely on skilled hand stitching for large parts of the construction of each pair of shoes. Its the most sustainable production technique and we don't plan to change it any time soon.
